My Shoes Were Dusty, but My Soul Was Singing : A Walk Through Stockholm
It was the kind of day that didn’t ask for perfection.
Just a walk.
Just a breath.
Just enough stillness to let your soul catch up with your feet.
—
I didn’t plan to meet God that day.
I thought I was just running errands.
But sometimes, Heaven hides in ordinary corners.
My shoes were dusty. The sidewalks uneven.
But every step felt like a soft invitation
—
“Come walk with Me.”
Not to a cathedral or mountaintop…
but right here, among the bicycles and birch trees, the seagulls crying and windows wide open.
There was a rhythm to the city.
Trams humming, languages blending, flowers hanging low from balconies like secret prayers.
—
And I realized:
This is holy ground.
Not because it was perfect.
But because He was here.
I passed a narrow alley and heard laughter.
Saw a little girl dancing in the spray of a broken fountain.
Water glistened like mercy.
—

And I thought: How many things in my life felt broken…
but still offered joy?
And I thought: How many things in my life felt broken… but still offered joy?
Then I paused beside an old bookstore.
Its window was full of maps and poetry.
I didn’t go in.
I just stood there and whispered, “Thank You.”
—
Because I was beginning to understand something:
Sometimes God doesn’t change the route. He changes the rhythm.
That day, He slowed me down.
Just enough to notice.
Just enough to remember who I am.
A pilgrim.
Not chasing arrival; just walking with wonder.
—
Prayer
Lord, thank You for sacred surprises in ordinary places.
Help me to walk slowly enough to hear You in the breeze,
to see You in a stranger’s smile,
to feel You in the rhythm of the road.
Let me never mistake ‘busyness’ for purpose,
or miss Your whisper in the noise.
Today, I walk with You.

Memory Verse
Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.”
—Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV)
