Oslo: The Watchman’s City
Oslo didn’t shout.
It watched.
There was a silence there, not empty, but awake.
It felt like a city with ears.
Listening. Waiting.
And somewhere in that stillness, I felt a call…
“Watch with Me.”

The Memory
It was early morning. The harbor shimmered, brushed with mist.
People passed by slowly, as if the whole city moved at the rhythm of thought.
I stood near the Opera House steps, looking out.
Not just looking, watching.
Christine A.
And I remembered a dream I once had:
A tall figure standing on a high tower, eyes wide, not blinking.
Alert.
Not afraid.
Not tired.
Just…ready.
I didn’t know until that day that the dream’s landscape looked a lot like Oslo.

🪞Devotional Insight
Some cities are built for beauty.
Some for battle.
But Oslo felt built for watching, like a spiritual outpost.

And I realized:
God is looking for watchmen.
Not just prophets. Not just preachers.
But everyday believers willing to stay spiritually awake.
Willing to lift their eyes.
To pray.
To guard the gates of their family, their calling, their city.
In Oslo, I felt that call again:
“Daughter, stand watch.”

Symbol: The Towering Sculpture with Many Faces
In a park near the Royal Palace, I saw a sculpture with carved faces stacked high, almost like a human totem pole.
Each face looked outward, some serene, some stern.
It reminded me of the cloud of witnesses.
Of generations before us still watching.
Still cheering us on.
Still warning us, softly:
“Stay awake. Don’t sleep through destiny.”

Prayer
Father,
Teach me to watch with You.
To guard what You’ve given.
To be alert in spirit, not distracted or dulled.
Let my prayers rise like morning mist over still waters.
Let me not just see, but discern.
And let me take my post with joy, knowing You watch with me.
Amen.

Scripture
“I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest.”
